Growing Up Reiki

When I was a new baby reiki, freshly attuned, in love with the exciting bright world that had just opened up for me, I was pretty ignorant. I'll admit it, I was punch-drunk with energy. I felt the faster I raced though my reiki levels, and the more attunements I could score would get me into super-healer mode quicker than anyone else. After all, I had been a Pentecostal, and dabbled in Tai Chi for years, what more could I learn from the energy that I hadn't already experienced?

Can anyone say EGO?

This is the same experience that all Martial Artists who gain a few belt ranks have. Finally feeling like they have a toe-hold of control over themselves and their environment, first year Martial Artist are at their most dangerous. They, in their inexperience, are more apt to do damage to a training partner due to lack of control than before they developed any confidence at all. In a good do-jang (training school) this is where the higher ranks step in to, shall we say, take the wind out of their sails.

This is more important for training than any technique someone could physically learn. For here is where the rubber meets the road. The tenets of a Martial Artists are honesty, loyalty, integrity, courtesy, humility, self-control, perserverance, and indomitable spirit. They are not learned from an outside source, but must be cultivated from within.

I could have taken the easy route, and remembered this valuable lesson learned many years ago. But, what fun would that have been? Like a teenager just getting a driving license, I took off like a rocket, only to get stuck in a Universal Energy traffic jam for a year. I'm sure my guides had a good belly laugh at my expense.

The lesson, which is engraved in my memory banks lest I ever go full tilt brain halting boogie again, is one I strive to teach my students, even as my teachers remind me (droll eye roll). We teach what we most need to learn.

When I received the symbols for New Earth Reiki, I had no idea what they were, or how valuable their wisdom was. All I knew was that two awesome astral beings gave them to me while in meditation. Basically, they introduced themselves, Hezekiah and Ezekiel, plopped the symbols in front of my psychic eyes, and left. Like a child withnew toy but no instructions on how to put it together, I tried in vain to "run" after them. I can still see their bemused faces as they faded into black.

Does anyone else have guides with such a sense of humor? They remind me of the Black Belts I trained under, and my parents. Yes dear, pat, pat on the head, one day you will get it (knowing infuriating smile).

Some reiki purists say new symbols are unnecessary, as reiki is magnificent in its simplicity. I agree, partly, reiki is magnificent, and it is the simplest of the healing arts to learn. But, in all relationships, there comes a time when a deeper understanding, a more developed partnership must happen. Use it or lose it, and if you use it, eventually you will go farther and deeper than you could possibly imagine.

My friends returned about a year later, to download into my subconscious the specific energy frequencies, and the purposes for each of the symbols. Plus, they added one more symbol, for a total of four. I had raised my physical vibrations to a sufficient level so that I could be a useful vessel for the information. Finally.

The Universe in all its ultimate intelligence will, if you are willing to let it be in control, give you only as much as you can handle, while you are growing up. The Universal Life Force is a great parent.

As with all the "new" reiki systems, New Earth reiki is very much able to enhance your abilities as a healer. This is done, not by giving you new "techniques" to use on yourself or a client, but by clearing your "inner house", gaining further understanding of what the energy truly is, and by bringing you into a more enlightened state. In this way, a domino effect is set into place. As you change, those around you are affected by your energy shift, they loosen up, let go, and life becomes more peaceful. They, in turn, go out into their sphere of influence, in a more compassionate state of being. Then, the people they have had contact with, are happier, more compassionate, and spread it further. Literally, a shifting of positive energy in one person affects the entire world! Isn't that what we as healers are here for?

Now, as I lovingly tell my students (and children) that time is your best friend, flying ahead of your learning will only cause downtime, and life is not a race, I can smile that infuriating smile, knowing I deeply understand of what it is I speak.
